Eid-al-Fitr was first started by Prophet Muhammed when he travelled from Mecca to Medina. 

Eid al-Fitr also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims.

Eid-al-Fitr is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal, after the month of Ramadan. According to the Islamic calendar, this is an indefinite date as the actual date is dependent on the glimpse of the moon of Shawwal (10th month in the Islamic calendar). 

 Ramada also starts with the rising of the crescent moon and ends with the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

Traditionally, Eid al-Fitr is celebrated for three days as an official holiday in all Muslim-majority countries. 

The Quran

During the month of Ramadan, the Muslims involve themselves reading the Quran and Duas and doing Dhikr. This month teaches them the true meaning of determination and tolerance while being kind to poor & needy. To bring them closer to God Muslims give away their earthly needs that’s why they fast from sunrise to sunset.

After this month the Muslims are forbidden to fast on the day of Eid.
